Animal Crossing Players Are Just Discovering The Pet Bed's Purpose.

Customising an island to match a theme in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a highlight.

Players can buy tables, beds, and more to decorate their homes, but only recently have some uncovered the true purpose of the pet bed.

The pet bed looks like a basket with a toy and would be perfect for a small furry companion. Many assumed it was purely decorative, putting a puppy plushie next to it to create the feeling of having a pet.

Lymairoz, a Redditor, never knew the true purpose of the pet bed until Goldie, an island villager, visited them.

Lymairoz on the r/AnimalCrossing Subreddit stated that Goldie, a Labrador-golden retriever mix, can happily sit on the pet bed instead of a game chair. Lymairoz posted photos of Goldie reading in the pet bed with a dog plushie.

Animal Crossing doesn't let players have pets because the islands' inhabitants are mostly animals, so the need for a pet bed seemed odd,

other than decorating the area around it with plushies that resemble one. However, its chair function makes sense.

The Animal Crossing villagers walk on two legs and speak in the players' language, yet they are still animals. It's only normal for a dog like Goldie to regard a pet bed like any other place to curl up when visiting, and as PositivelyKAH noted, all the characters prefer the pet bed to couches or other "human spots."
