Ariana Grande Supports Boyfriend Ethan Slater at Intimate Show Launch

On Tuesday, May 28, Ariana Grande's boyfriend Ethan Slater began his weeklong residency at Café Carlyle in New York with an exclusive concert.

The Spamalot star sang Broadway staples like Fiddler on the Roof and Pippin, as well as original songs and Bob Dylan covers.

He performed two acoustic performances of his 2018 Broadway show SpongeBob SquarePants and made references to his "big year of change."

"He's extremely talented," the insider says of Slater, 31, who will portray Boq in Wicked, which opens Nov. 27.

"The presentation was primarily about him and his love of music and theatre, although he glanced at Ariana when he sang 'Lucky to be in love.' It was adorable."

The source says, "He talked about Wicked and pretended to cover "Defying Gravity" with Grande, but he switched to "If I Only Had a Heart" from the original Wizard of Oz movie at the last minute. Everyone laughed."

Grande was enjoying her night with her small group of friends, according to the insider.

She was polite, smiling at everyone she saw, and having a nice supper with a few pals in one of the rear banquettes. The audience was small, largely theatre lovers. No one bothered her."

The observer says Grande joined the other guests in wishing a customer a happy birthday when a dessert with a candle was served.

The insider said Arianna is serious about Ethan. "She loves being with him."
