After reaching the divisional round of the playoffs in his first full season as a starter, Packers quarterback Jordan Love is expected to sign a longer contract this offseason.
Love indicated in May that he wasn't sure whether he would play out the year under his current contract, but he's been participating in the team's offseason program as talks about a new deal continue.
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst appeared on 97.3 The Game on Tuesday to discuss those discussions.
Gutekunst didn't say how close the two sides are, but he said everyone agrees on when to finish.
“We’re in those conversations right now,” Gutekunst added. The wonderful part is that neither is easy or fast, yet both parties desire the same thing.
We want a contract extension before training camp, and both parties do too. I think continuity at that position gives you confidence in our team building. We're excited to finish, but it never goes fast.”
Love, Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagovailoa, and Dak Prescott are waiting for a contract, while Lions QB Jared Goff recently signed a huge agreement.
There will be several locations to watch after teams take their summer break because such agreements generally happen between offseason workouts and training camp.
