Draymond Green suspended indefinitely for striking Jusuf Nurkic
The NBA confirmed Wednesday that Draymond Green will be suspended “indefinitely” from play.
“This outcome takes into account Green's repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts,” NBA basketball operations executive vice president Joe Dumars stated.
Green made the maneuver a day after hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić in the face during the third quarter.
The Warriors lost 119-116 to the Suns after Green was dismissed for his 18th flagrant two penalty.
Nurkić was knocked down but recovered and continued playing the game.
“He was pulling my hip and I was swinging away to sell the call,” Green told NBC Sports. I contacted him. I don't apologize for things I mean to do, but I apologize to Jusuf since I didn't mean to hurt him."
The NBA suspended Green immediately and required him to complete “certain league and team conditions before he returns to play.”
“We need him, we need Draymond,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told NBC Sports. He knows, we told him. He must maintain composure and support his teammates.”
