NFL insider suggests Colin Kaepernick's comeback when Jim Harbaugh joins Chargers.
On Wednesday, Jim Harbaugh agreed to become the Los Angeles Chargers' head coach, and while this raises many doubts about the team's future, one fascinating topic concerning his coaching staff has arisen.
NFL source Mike Florio speculated that Colin Kaepernick may join Harbaugh's coaching staff in Los Angeles. Florio cited the pair's history with the San Francisco 49ers, as well as Kaepernick's presence at Michigan's spring game in 2022.
According to Pro Football Talk, Harbaugh contemplated bringing Kaepernick on as quarterbacks coach if he was hired as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings in April 2022.
It involves the free-agent quarterback giving up his hopes of returning to the NFL as a player. Kaepernick recently backed his old coach before accepting the Chargers job.
"Harbaugh is the coach to contact when you want to contend for a title. "Period," he told USA Today. In 2020, Harbaugh told The Athletic that it was "absurd" that Kaepernick was unemployed.
"I love Colin, did then, do now, and always will," Harbaugh added. I hope he gets a shot. I hope he gets an opportunity to play again. Just my personal opinion."
Kaepernick has stated that he is prepared if an NFL team comes calling. It is uncertain whether he wants to coach in the league.
He played for Harbaugh from 2011 until 2014. The two made it to two NFC Championships, winning one.
