Outlander star transforms undetectably for new role
Stephen Walters looks almost unrecognisable in a new Channel 5 thriller that broadcast over the weekend.
Starting Sunday night, The Night Caller follows down-on-his-luck cab driver Tony (Robert Glenister) who falls for light-night radio host Lawrence.
Tony calls Lawrence during one of his broadcasts and becomes a "friend of the show," but his obsession grows.
Stephen plays Tony's cabbie counterpart Rob.
Stephen, who plays Angus Mhor on Starz, appears different in the new thriller.
Stephen wears a tam o' shanter cap, long hair, and a thick beard in Outlander to look like a Highland warrior. In The Night Caller, the actor has a short, stylish haircut.
He's preserved some facial hair for this part, but his beard is gone, leaving a thick moustache.
Stephen said Channel 5: “Rob is an ex-military man, he served in Afghanistan and now works as a taxi driver, which is how he knows Tony.
“We discover Rob is a drug addict and possibly mentally ill.”
Wednesday, July 10 is the last night of the four-part drama.
Rob's relationship with Tony will be revealed as The Night Caller explores loneliness and depression.
