Taylor Sheridan honours Dabney Coleman from ‘Yellowstone’
In the Paramount Network smash Yellowstone, Dabney Coleman played John Dutton Sr. Taylor Sheridan is commemorating him after his passing.
Sheridan told Deadline, “I had the opportunity to work with Dabney in 2003, and learned priceless lessons in the power of simplicity as an artist,
but more importantly I witnessed Dabney's humility, grace, and patience (with my 10,000 questions).
Coleman played lawyer Burton Fallin in “Back in the Ring,” a 2003 episode of The Guardian on CBS, while Sheridan guest-starred as boxer Tim Dohanic, whom Burton aids.
Sheridan said, “I never forgot those lessons, and was humbled myself when he agreed to appear on Yellowstone,” referring to Coleman's guest appearance.
His act was another daring and emotional honesty lesson. Coleman is a gem. His memory and admiration will endure.”
In the Season 2 finale, Coleman's John Dutton Sr. tells his son John (Kevin Costner) about his regrets and anguish as he nears death.
Coleman told TV Insider that the flashback “came up out of nowhere, kind of in a hurry, on a spur of a moment, as far as I know.” Good scene writing. Currently working with a great actor.
