Swift performed "The Tortured Poets Department" live with "Now That We Don't Talk." she combined writing from two eras.
Taylor Swift debuted “The Tortured Poets Department” at her Lisbon concert on Saturday, May 25.
Despite adding several of Swift's new songs to the main Eras Tour set, it will take some time for her to play all 31 tracks live.
The Tortured Poets Department album has spent a month at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 list.
“This part of the show, I try to be very creative,” Swift told the Estádio da Luz crowd on Saturday at the stadium's endstage, where she performs surprise songs and acoustic Tortured Poets tracks.
“This is actually the first time I'm ever playing this one live,” she stated as she played guitar through “The Tortured Poets Department”.
Her inventiveness showed when she suddenly mixed “Now That We Don't Talk,” a vault track from 1989 (Taylor's Version), with The Tortured Poets Department title track.
Swift connected works from different times by asking her muse, "Who will hold you like me without talking?" “Who will know you like me without talking?”
