'Yellowstone' Star Reveals 'Cowboy Bootcamp' Secrets: 'It's a Whole Different World'

From Stetson to spur, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan likes to keep his smash shows' action real.

"He's a cowboy," said Brian Geraghty, who starred in Yellowstone prequel 1923 with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

"You gotta not only ride a horse, but look like you know what you're doing," Geraghty told E! News of his "two-week boot camp" for the Paramount+ series.

He and his 1923 castmates "were running on horses, lassoing, I learned how to use an old six shooter," said Geraghty, who plays Dutton Ranch supervisor Zane Davis. Walking in spurs and chaps, weapons training. The world is different."

He enjoyed the time the cast had before filming, even though he joked that everyone was "all tortured" by it.

"So we got to have highs and lows together before we started, which actually was really good for bonding," he said. "We were bad one day,

progressing the next. We have be vulnerable. Adults find it hard to master new skills."

In November, Yellowstone's Cole Hauser, who plays Dutton fixer Rip Wheeler, praised Sheridan for delivering "cowboy boot camp" to PEOPLE.
